Baht Oyunu Episode 7 Review "Ada Quits"

Episode 7 Overview: Bora Bey gets sucked into Ada's crazy drama and Ada just can't take deceiving him... so instead of coming clean about her "marriage" to Ruzgar, she lies to Bora again and quits her job. I don't get the logic here, but it is a dizi so off we go!

REVIEW

-Bora Bey is a stickler for honesty, which is funny considering that he is far from honest about his feelings for Ada, neyse... we'll judge you for tucking your polo into your tight dad jeans and wearing a belt some other time.

-Ada and Bora, after some hijinks involving lies heaped upon more lies (Bora lies pretty well for someone who hates lying...) they head to Ada's old college where St. Bora pays for scholarships. Wouldn't it be awkward if the scholarships were suddenly canceled and Bora was confronted by a disgruntled student during his big speech??? Ha just a little Sen Cal Kapimi fun for all you EdSer fans out there. Instead Bora ambushes Ada with a public speaking opportunity which seems like a weird way to a girl's heart, but okay.

-Oh! I almost forgot a critical guitar playing musical memory medley... It didn't move the plot forward at all, so I can only assume they threw that into to capitalize on Aytac's latent heartthrob status. Hey, there is only one heartthrob we want to watch fake play guitar (Aytac was actually paying, so I'll give him that) and singing a little flat, and that is Doruk ... so step back Bora Bey!

-We also discover that Ada was a good student and a brilliant writer. Her teacher realizes that she lied about graduating, but Bora is blissfully ignorant but the scene brings on Ada's conscience and her big "I quit" moment which is anti climatic considering she's still basically living at his house.

-Celal, who is an annoying hindrance, continues to be an annoying hindrance this time forcing Ada and Ruzgar into the photoshoot from hell. The photographer was a million years old, so I can't wait to see how they'll turn out... especially considering that no doubt Bora or Tugce will discover them soon.

-I feel compelled to discuss how I want to hate Ruzgar, but he makes me laugh with his shamelessness. Apparently I'm a girl who likes shameless people because I can't get enough of the bouncy way he walks and his blatant narcissism. When he was getting Celal drunk and making a fancy breakfast... I. Could. Not.

-Ruzgar was forced into buying Ada a ring. Isn't that the way, now that she wants a relationship with someone else here he is buying her a ring which will come back to cause problems...

-I don't care about Ada's family at all. They are annoying me at this point. WHY ARE THEY STILL AT BORA'S HOUSE? Don't get me started about the "pregnancy" storyline. Who pulls a used pregnancy test out of the trash? Who wouldn't just ask their sister about it instead of telling their brother in law? It all makes no sense.

-A bit of intrigue with Yasmine (crazier aunt) and Bora's mom. They are both in agreement to get Ada and Bora away from each other ASAP which is dumb because Bora and Ada make each other better people. The sum being greater than the parts and all that.

-We've come to the point where we are going to criticize Bora's "at home" attire. Tight jeans, belt, polo tucked in, dad jeans??? BORA NO! Wear what you wore to play basketball! Athleisurewear. PLEASE. I beg of you.

-Speaking of basketball.... HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH! Cemre can not play. She dribbles as badly as I do. Even though the script called for her to lose badly, she was real life bad. If she could have played at all they would have had a scene like this*... but no, she could barely keep the ball in her hands so they had to write Bora Bey winning. I still don't understand why the scene was there, because it felt filler as all get out.

-We end the episode at Ada's new restaurant job where we had to hear about "Tugce's" amazing article which still annoys me because there is absolutely no reason to not print an innocent correction. It is an online magazine for heaven sakes not a Pulitzer Prize winning piece of investigative journalism!

-Ada was just about to come clean when Tugce interrupted thus ending our hopes for any swift resolution.

THOUGHTS AND PREDICTIONS

-Real talk... While this episode was funny and fun overall... it dragged A LOT. I'm wondering if this show needs to be 30-45 minutes shorter a la "Ask Mantik Itikam" (though I wish that one were longer, apparently I can never be satisfied). We knew Ada was quitting, they dragged it out, we knew Bora was upset, they dragged it out, even the overall Ada and Ruzgar being married has been dragged out. Other characters need to start finding out bit by bit to create interest.

-Cemre and Aytac continue to be the reason this show flourishes. Points for the people who play Ruzgar and Tugce (whose names I am too lazy to learn) because they have comedic charisma as well. All the other characters/storylines including Ali/Selin are uninteresting. I would like to see more of Bora's niece. She was critical in the beginning, but like a lot of dizi children, they are using her less and less. Usually I'm cool with that, but because she is so integral to Bora and Ada, I'd like to see developed interactions.

-While Baht Oyunu continues to CRUSH on social media, the ratings are consistently going down and that worries me. I don't want this show canceled and a few hastily scrapped together last episodes. That would be a disservice to the hard work of this cast.

-Next week we know that for some reason Tugce will hire Ada back, why? Hijinks. Bora will be annoyed but "annoyed Bora" is my happy place so bring it.

-That dude from Afili Ask and Sol Yanim will arrive. Jealousy will happen. The fragmans show a fight?

-There will be a mixup with Ada's wedding ring, but Bora will still not find out the truth.

-Ada's family MIGHT go back to their own house.

Happy watching! I am looking forward to next week!

*Single greatest basketball scene in a dizi ever. One moment of silence for the superiority of "Fazilet Hanim ve Kizlari."
