Kardeslerim Season 1 Recap: Characters the LESSER Erens

Orhan "Big ole' Coward" Eren

Orhan is Veli's younger brother and while he has a very kind heart, dude is weak. While taking responsibility for his brother's kids after their parent's death, he lets his wife move them into the chicken coop without much fuss. He also doesn't help look after their physical needs AT ALL... if anything he is passive as his wife uses money meant for the orphans to benefit his own children and his household. He also convinces the kids to use Asiye's prize money to BUY A PILAF CART instead of putting it toward rent on a better place... *deep breath* I'm still mad about it. I'll give it to him, whenever he TRIES to help his nephews and nieces, his wife gets in his way... What did I tell you, coward. He also CAN NOT KEEP a secret. Omer's parentage managed to stay under wraps for nearly 17 years, but the second Veli dies, Orhan is blabbing to everyone.  

Sengul "Snake Teyse" Eren

Sengul, Sengul, Sengul. She's shameless. She's brazen. She's hilarious at times. She's infuriating. She's the reason the orphans were sent to the chicken coop instead of taken care of at home. She also knows that Akif killed her brother and sister-in-law... but instead of GOING TO THE POLICE (no one goes to the police in this show... well, to report real things. They DEFINITELY go to get the Eren's in trouble) she tries to use the information for her material benefit. While she has genuine love and affection for the orphans, her primary goal is always to elevate her own situation and that of her children. Everything will be secondary to that. She ALSO REALLY can't keep a secret. She lives to spill the tea. 

Ogulcan "Nothin' but trouble but we love him anyway" Eren

Ogulcan is your typical friend that gets you in bad situations but is so personally charming that it is hard to stay mad at him. I have a brother like that so I get Ogulcan's appeal. Ogulcan is the son of Orhan and Sengul and Omer's best friend. Certainly the closeness in age fostered more of a sibling relationship between the cousins. He has a kind heart, generous personality, and tries to help his cousins. He encourages both friends, enemies, AND frenemies in their romances and was the first Asiye confided in about her growing relationship with Doruk. He's non judgmental and quick to forgive. He definitely inherited Orhan's heart (and crappy taste in women!) and Sengul's ability to cause chaos! Ogulcan can be impulsive and leaves other people (most often his cousins) to clean up the mess. He develops an infatuation for Harika, and becomes the only person she can truly count on that likes her for herself... why I can not say, Ogulcan IS a bit dumb. 

Aybike "Should not date Berk" Eren

Aybike is the same age as Omer and Asiye and grew up with them like siblings. Aybike is quick witted, spunky, a bit materialistic, and obsessed with bettering her own situation. She's a bit like Sengul, but a LOT more likable. She and Asiye have a sweet cousin relationship without significant envy or intrigue which is REFRESHING in a dizi. Aybike is happy to cheer on Asiye's success in her singing, schoolwork, and her romantic relationships all the while still wishing she had a romantic relationship of her own. Aybike was attracted to Berk, but after a sadistic battle of wills, is now holding him at arms length which is wise because he put her father in the hospital. While she is nice, she isn't pure hearted as Ogulcan. She can be self interested and a bit petty if needed.
